The internal modem/print router provides the 895e with
ideal functionality for the STP environment. The barcode
scanner option allows for the capture of bar coded stock
control numbers from either TAT or ATB coupons.
Cost / Volume Fit
Recent industry statistics indicate that greater than
90% of travel agencies have annual sales of $3 million
or less.
This translates to 35-50 tickets per day, an average
of 30-45 minutes per day of printing.
The 895e is designed to meet the needs of these low
to medium volume agencies, printing a coupon in 7-8
seconds.
This application specific design, along with the high
reliability and low cost of consumables, provides one
of the most cost effective solutions available for the
low-to-medium volume environment.
Barcode Option
Barcode scanning is an efficient and cost effective
method of capturing the Stock Control Number (SCN) from
ATB tickets and the ticket number from TAT. The scanner
reads 2 of 5 barcode in the field specified by IATA
Ticket Resolution 1722C.
For TAT, the specified area is rows R and S, columns
42 through 72. On ATB stock there is an optional field
available for barcode on row A, columns 24 through 51.
After scanning the Stock Control Number, the printer
may transmit the SCN to the host and then wait for acknowledgment
before printing the ticket. These procedures address
the current requirements for Stock Control Number capture
as set forth by the various Bank Settlement Plans (BSPs)
